:Storm Hawks: Disco Fever

This seems to be one of the most popular of my works in my entire gallery and I just want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has faved, commented and just simply taken the time to look. It makes me happy knowing so many people like what I do

There were a lot of hours spent on this deviation when I drew it a few years ago, part of it due to me deciding I had to redraw the lineart for each character many times over

The concept of a disco-themed pic was inspired when I was at my friend Thea's place. At the time we were swapping music and when the song "Staying Alive" by the Bee-Gees came on I, of course, started groovin' along to it. And then of course I came up with an idea (which happens to me quite often when I'm listening to music) thinking to myself, "I'm going to think up some kinda scene for this song aren't I?" unexpectedly STORM HAWKS was what popped into mind and BAM! my mind was flooded with images of them all dressed in disco outfits!

I went to Google to search for disco outfits as references (plus a little searching here on dA too) to help give me some choices about which character would be wearing what sort of outfit.

After finishing this drawing I became quite annoyed with Finn because I had a lot of trouble foreshortening his hands, but in the end I think I was able to pull it off. Hands are my worst nightmare when I draw, but taking photos of one's own hands in the pose needed does help. So, Finn, I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY.

I gave Junko an afro originally just because I wanted to, but then I realised after going over some of the episodes that there had been a few afro moments with Junko (like the snow afro in "Fire and Ice") I must have subconsciously picked up on the afro jokes but forgot that it had actually happened in the show

Also I'll admit I copied Radarr's head for this - at the time I was too scared to try on my own, but I changed his facial expression. But I swear I won't cheat like that again XD
